# Hyrule, Seven Years Later — Ocarina of Time remake (Switch 2)

Chapter 10 · Adult Link · Overworld. Updated Nov 1, 2026.

Hyrule has changed under Ganondorf's rule, and adult Link needs new tools before the first temple. You pick up the Hookshot in Kakariko, can win Epona back at Lon Lon Ranch, and meet Sheik again in the Sacred Forest Meadow.

**Goal:** Win the Hookshot in Dampé's race, then reach the Forest Temple through the Sacred Forest Meadow.

**Rewards:** Song of Storms, Hookshot, Epona, Minuet of Forest

## 1. Kakariko Village and the Song of Storms

1. From Hyrule Field, climb the stone stairs to Kakariko Village. The village has grown a lot in seven years.
2. Step into the windmill. A man cranking a music box sits inside, in a foul mood.
3. Talk to him while you carry your ocarina. He complains that seven years ago a kid with an ocarina played a strange tune in here, the windmill spun out of control, and the well dried up. Then he plays the song for you.
4. (You get) You learn the Song of Storms.
5. (Tip) You'll use this song as a child: play it inside this windmill to make the blades spin wildly and drain the Kakariko well, which opens the Bottom of the Well. It also summons a rainstorm wherever you play it outdoors.

## 2. Dampé's Race and the Hookshot

1. Head through Kakariko to the Graveyard. Dampé the gravekeeper has passed away, and his ghost now haunts his own grave.
2. Find Dampé's grave: the headstone with flowers growing in front of it, on the left side of the graveyard. Stand behind it, pull it back to uncover a hole, and drop in.
3. Dampé's ghost challenges you to keep up with him through his underground tunnels. Stay right on his tail.
4. Roll along straight stretches for extra speed and run normally through the corners, where a roll sends you into the wall. Dampé leaves blue flames behind him; steer around them, since touching one knocks you down and costs precious seconds.
5. (Watch out) If you fall too far behind, you lose the race and have to try again from the start.
6. (You get) Reach the end to open a chest holding the Hookshot. It latches onto wooden surfaces, chests, and targets to pull you across gaps, grabs items from a distance, and stuns many enemies.
7. Go through the door past the chest. It lets you out high up inside the Kakariko windmill.
8. (Collectible) Race Dampé again with the Hookshot and finish in under one minute to earn a Piece of Heart. Firing the Hookshot near the end lets you skip most of the final uphill climb.
9. (Collectible) Inside the windmill, a Piece of Heart rests on a high ledge. Wait for the turning platform in the middle of the room to swing your way, ride it, and hop off onto the ledge.

## 3. Lon Lon Ranch and Epona

1. Cross Hyrule Field to Lon Lon Ranch. Ingo now runs it and is raising horses to impress Ganondorf, Talon has been thrown out, and Malon is miserable.
2. (Watch out) You can only claim Epona if you learned Epona's Song from Malon as a child.
3. (Tip) Missed the song? Go to the Temple of Time and return the Master Sword to become a child. Visit Lon Lon Ranch during the day and talk to Malon in the corral with your ocarina, and she teaches you Epona's Song. Then draw the sword again and come back.
4. Talk to Ingo by the corral and pay 10 Rupees for a ride. Turn down the horse he offers, walk into the corral, and play Epona's Song. Epona comes straight to you.
5. Mount up and get a feel for riding. Press A to spend a carrot on a burst of speed. Carrots refill over time, so spend them steadily rather than all at once.
6. Talk to Ingo from the saddle and accept his challenge: a race once around the track, with 50 Rupees on the line.
7. Ingo jumps the start and swings wide on the corners. Hug the inside fence, keep a steady pace, and save a carrot or two for the final straight.
8. Win, and Ingo demands a rematch with the horse itself as the prize. This time he rides harder and cuts across your path, so wait for a gap on the inside and pass him there.
9. (You get) Beat him again and Epona is yours.
10. Furious, Ingo locks the ranch gate behind you. Gallop toward it at full speed and jump the gate or one of the ranch's outer walls to escape.
11. (Tip) Play Epona's Song in Hyrule Field and other open areas to call her. She can't enter towns or dungeons.
12. (Tip) Epona isn't required to finish the game, but she makes crossing Hyrule Field much faster, you'll want her for hunting Big Poes, and she can leap the broken bridge in Gerudo Valley.

## 4. Kokiri Forest and the Lost Woods

1. Travel to Kokiri Forest. Monsters roam the village now, and the Kokiri, who never grow up, don't recognize you.
2. Enter the Lost Woods and follow the same route to the Sacred Forest Meadow that you used as a child. From the entrance, the turns are right, left, right, left, straight, left, right. The music grows louder when you're heading the right way.
3. Just before the meadow, Mido blocks the path and won't let a stranger pass. Play Saria's Song for him. He recognizes the tune and steps aside.

## 5. Sacred Forest Meadow

1. The meadow's hedge maze is now patrolled by spear-carrying Moblins. Each walks a fixed route and charges in a straight line the moment it spots you.
2. (Tip) Peek around corners and duck into the side alcoves while a Moblin passes. If you'd rather fight, the Hookshot interrupts them and a few sword slashes finish the job.
3. Near the end of the maze, a huge Club Moblin pounds the ground and sends shockwaves rolling across the floor. Approach at an angle, slash at its legs, and back away when it raises its club.
4. Walk up toward the clearing where Saria used to play her ocarina. Sheik appears.
5. (You get) Sheik teaches you the Minuet of Forest. Playing it warps you straight to this clearing.
6. The staircase up to the Forest Temple has crumbled. Aim the Hookshot at the tree branch hanging over the broken steps and pull yourself up.
7. Walk through the doorway into the Forest Temple.
8. (Tip) Save before going in, and carry a bottled fairy or potion if you have one. You'll find the Fairy Bow inside, and you'll need the Song of Time early on.

## Gold Skulltulas nearby

- **High on the House of Twins** (Kokiri Forest; Adult Link, night only; needs Hookshot): As an adult at night, look high up on the back of the Twins' house. Fire the Hookshot at the Skulltula; the hook kills it and reels the token straight to you.
- **Bean Plant Ledge Above the Theater** (Lost Woods; Adult Link, night only; needs Magic Beans): As a child, plant a Magic Bean in the soft soil by the Business Scrubs near the Forest Stage. Come back as an adult at night, ride the leaf platform up to the high ledge, and defeat the Skulltula waiting there.
- **Wall Beside the Maze's Lone Ladder** (Sacred Forest Meadow; Adult Link, night only; needs Hookshot): Near the far end of the maze, climb the single ladder to the upper ledge. At night the Skulltula clings to the wall right beside you; Hookshot it to kill it and pull in the token.
- **Grotto by Tree Near Kakariko** (Hyrule Field; Either age; needs Bombs, Boomerang or Hookshot): In the stretch of field between Hyrule Castle Town and the Kakariko Village stairs, bomb the ground beside the lone tree to open a hidden grotto. Inside, the Skulltula hangs high up; snag it with the Boomerang as a child or the Hookshot as an adult.
- **Cow Grotto Near Gerudo Valley** (Hyrule Field; Either age; needs Bombs, Din's Fire or Fire Arrows, Boomerang or Hookshot): Close to the Gerudo Valley entrance, blow up the boulder sitting inside a ring of small rocks and drop into the grotto. Burn the webs with Din's Fire or Fire Arrows, then use the Boomerang or Hookshot on the Skulltula high on a web past the cow.
- **Above the Roof of Impa's House** (Kakariko Village; Adult Link, night only; needs Hookshot): As an adult at night, Hookshot your way up onto the roof of Impa's House (the Longshot makes the climb simpler). The Skulltula is on the wall above the roof; Hookshot it to finish it off and grab the token.

## Pieces of Heart nearby

- **Business Scrub Grotto near Lake Hylia** (Hyrule Field; Either age; needs Bombs, 10 Rupees): Near the road to Lake Hylia, set a bomb in the middle of a small square of fences to open a hidden grotto. Knock the Business Scrub inside out of his hole, then buy the piece from him for 10 Rupees.
- **Underwater Grotto by a Lone Tree** (Hyrule Field; Either age; needs Bombs, Golden Scale or Iron Boots): In the northwest part of the field, bomb the ground beside a lone tree near the stream to open a grotto. Inside, dive to the floor of the deep pool with the Golden Scale or sink down in the Iron Boots to grab the piece.
- **Impa's House Cow Pen** (Kakariko Village; Either age; needs Owl ride (child) or Hookshot (adult)): Get onto the small ledge at the back of Impa's House: as a child, ride the owl down from the summit of Death Mountain and drop onto it; as an adult, Hookshot across the rooftops. Go through the opening into the cow's pen to grab the piece.
- **Windmill Alcove** (Kakariko Village; Either age; needs Boomerang (child) or Song of Time (adult)): The piece sits in a high alcove inside the windmill. As a child, throw the Boomerang at it from the stairs; as an adult, come in on the upper floor from the end of Dampé's race (play the Song of Time to clear the block) and jump from the turning platform.
- **Man on the Roof** (Kakariko Village; Either age; needs Hookshot (adult)): A man lounges on a rooftop beside the lookout tower; climb up and talk to him for the piece. As a child, climb the tower and side-jump onto the edge of his roof, which takes practice; as an adult, simply Hookshot up.
- **House of Skulltula: 50 Tokens** (Kakariko Village; Either age; needs 50 Gold Skulltula tokens): Collect 50 Gold Skulltula tokens and visit the House of Skulltula. The family member you free at that milestone hands you the piece.
- **Heart Piece Grave (ReDead)** (Kakariko Graveyard; Either age; needs Sun's Song): In the back row of graves, pull back the second stone from the right and drop into the hole. Freeze or avoid the ReDead, then play the Sun's Song to make a chest holding the piece appear.
- **Crate on the High Ledge** (Kakariko Graveyard; Adult Link; needs Magic Bean or Longshot): As a child, plant a Magic Bean in the soft soil on the left side of the graveyard. As an adult, ride the leaf platform up to the high ledge and roll into the crate to reveal the piece; the Longshot also gets you up there.
- **Dampé's Race** (Kakariko Graveyard; Adult Link): As an adult, pull back Dampé's tombstone (the one with flowers in front) and chase his ghost through the tunnels. Your first finish earns the Hookshot; reach the end in under one minute to earn the piece.
